The Joe Casino Beginners Guide to Winning at Let Em Ride
Let Em Ride is a very attractive prospect for any poker lover who would rather not compete in a traditional game of poker in any format, but instead play against a casino either on line or land based. This popular variation of poker was developed by the internationally renowned Shuffle Master Company who have been around the casino industry for many years, supplying a wide range of accessories for land casinos as well as promoting several online versions of casino standards, with Let Em Ride being one the most popular.
Each hand in Let Em Ride begins with each player at the table obliged to place three bets each of the same value. Once the bet has been placed, three cards are dealt face up for each of the bets, and after these cards have been dealt, the dealer deals two faces down “community cards.”
The next stage in the hand is that each player has decide if they want to continue with a minimum of two of their three bets, which is where the terminology Let Em Ride comes from. Once that stage has been passed, and decisions have been made, the dealer turns up one of the “community cards”. At this fourth card stage, the player can again decide to pull out one of their hands, or Let it Ride. If they pulled out one of their hands in stage one, and then they will be left with only hand to play against the bank.
Once again, the player makes their decision, and the second “community card” or river card is turned up by the dealer.
The hand has now reached its final stage, and the player either wins or loses at least one of their hands and possibly all three if they have been allowed to ride.
Payouts at Let It Ride are calculated according to the strength of each individual hand made up from the three cards in each hand as well as the two “community cards”. The minimum payout is for a pair of tens and after that up the poker scale to a royal flush. Each hand is rewarded according to its strength, with the lowest pay out hand which is a pair of tens paying even money and a royal flush paying 1000 to one to give an indication.
Let It Ride is a clever and well thought game and has adapted well to both online and land casino play. Players are not required to have an in-depth knowledge of poker, but will do better if they have some concept of the probabilities of making a hand. Obviously if their three cards that they are dealt already consist of a high pair, they will always Let It Ride, but some of the more obtuse poker hands like nut flushes or possible inside straights will require some calculation. Although players have their three cards dealt face upwards, they are forbidden to show them to other players at the table, even if they muck them, as this may provide an indication of which cards are still to be dealt.
All in all, Let Em Ride is a friendly way to play poker against the house, without the need to pay antes, and with the opportunity to test and develop a player’s poker skills.
