In reference to the letters representing the Ace (A) and King (K), this Texas Hold’em starting hand is sometimes called an “Anna Kournikova” after the hot-bodied tennis player whose name bears the same initials. And, much like the tennis babe, the Ace-King poker hand, though extremely good looking can sometimes play very poorly. The more popular term for the A-K is “Big Slick”, due largely to the fact that it can be a very slippery hand to get away from when the flop doesn’t come your way.
